If you’re like most drivers, you probably use your car horn for emergencies only. But if you want to be able to honk your horn whenever you want, there’s a simple way to do it. All you need is a wire and some basic tools. Here’s how to do it:
- Start by removing the screws that hold the dashboard in place. You’ll need to remove both the upper and lower panels.
- Once the panels are removed, locate the horn button on the center console and remove it.
- Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation off of one end of a wire cable and twist it into a loop. Make sure that the insulation is facing outwards so that it doesn’t get stuck in any wires or connectors when you’re wiring it up later on.
- Push one end of the wire loop through the hole in the horn button and pull tight so that the insulation is secure against both sides of the hole. Then repeat this process with another wire loop, this time attaching it to the other side of the insulation near where it exits from underthe dashboard paneling (see photo). ..
