If you’re like most people, you probably spend a lot of time in Photoshop working with colors. Whether you’re creating a new document, adjusting an existing one, or just trying to get your head around the color wheel, it can be helpful to have some basic tips under your belt. In this article, we’ll show you how to select colors using Photoshop’s various tools and menus. First things first: if you want to select a single color from a group of similar colors, use the Color Range tool (CMD+Option+R). This will open up Photoshop’s color picker dialog box, where you can specify the range of colors that you want to include. To include all the colors in a document (or selection), simply click on the checkbox next to “All Colors.” Once you’ve selected your desired range of colors, Photoshop will display them on the left side of the dialog box. To start selecting individual colors, simply click on any one of them and hold down your mouse button while dragging it over the desired area. If you want to select multiple colors at once, hold down Shift while clicking on each one. If you need to exclude certain colors from your selection (for example, if they’re part of an image background that you don’t want included in your final document), use the Color Selector tool (CMD+Option+U). This will open up Photoshop’s color picker dialog box again; this time, all the colors that are outside of your selected range will be displayed as grayed-out selections on the right side. Simply click on any one of these selections and then drag it over the area that you want to exclude it from. And that’s all there is to selecting by color in Photoshop!
