Removing excess refrigerant from a car is an important task that should be done regularly. Excess refrigerant can cause the car to run out of gas, make it difficult to start, and even cause the engine to overheat. If left unchecked, excess refrigerant can also lead to a fire. To remove excess refrigerant from a car, follow these steps:
- Open the hood and remove any obstructions that may be in the way of removing the refrigerant.
- Pour a pot of water onto the stove and set it to medium heat. Add enough refrigerant to cover the bottom of the pot. Bring the water to a boil and then reduce the heat to low and wait for it to cool slightly before adding more refrigerant.
- Place a funnel over one end of a large container and pour enough refrigerant into it so that it covers both ends of the container. Gently twist each end of the container until all of the refrigerant has been used up. Remove any excess by using an old towel or another object that is large enough to fit inside of the container without breaking it open.
- Close up any openings that were created by twisting or pouring in too much refrigeratorANT
