If you have a car with an AC unit, it’s important to remove excess freon from the system. Freon is a pollutant that can cause health problems if it’s not removed. To remove excess freon from your car, follow these steps:
- Open the hood of your car and remove any obstructions. This will allow you to see the air conditioning unit.
- Remove any screws that hold the air conditioning unit in place. Be careful not to damage the compressor or other parts of the unit.
- Pour a pot of water onto the floor of your car and wait until it boils over (this will help to break down any clumps of freon). Be sure to use a pot with high sides so that all the Freon is released at once. Do this until all the Freon has been released!
- Place an old towel on top of each container of Freon and let them sit for at least 30 minutes so that they can break down into smaller clumps. You may also want to put some plastic wrap over each container if you’re worried about getting any Freon on your skin or clothes!
