If you live in a hurricane-prone area, it’s important to protect your car from damage during a storm. Here are some tips to help:
- Make sure your car is properly inflated. Hurricane air pressure can be high during a storm, and high pressure areas can cause more damage to cars than low pressure areas. Make sure your car is inflated to at least 3/4 of its original size before driving it in an area with high hurricane air pressure.
- Keep your car windows closed and your doors locked when you’re not using the car. This will keep the inside of the car cool and safe from the elements.
- Store any valuables in a safe place away from the house or office during a storm. This will help protect them from theft if there is an evacuation order in place.
- Be prepared for possible power outages during a storm. If you have power, turn off all lights and appliances before leaving home so that they don’t turn on while you’re gone. If you don’t have power, you can still use your phone to check email or listen to music while you wait for service to come back online.
