Textures can add a lot of depth and realism to your illustrations, and they’re easy to create in Adobe Illustrator. Here’s how:
- Start by creating a new document in Illustrator and setting the size to your desired dimensions. You can use any type of file format, but we recommend using a vector format for the best results.
- Next, create a new layer and name it “Texture.” Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) and draw a rectangle around the outside of your document. Make sure that the “Texture” layer is selected before you start drawing your rectangle.
- Once your rectangle is complete, select the Eraser Tool (E) and erase all of the background except for the texture you just created. Be sure to keep an eye on your layers so that you don’t accidentally erase anything else!
- Next, add some basic shapes or text to your texture layer using the Pencil Tool (P). Be sure to experiment with different shapes and sizes until you find something that looks good on your illustration. You can also use filters or effects in order to give your texture some extra pizzazz! ..
