If you’re like most people, you probably don’t outline your articles before you start writing. But if you want to produce a high-quality article, outlining is essential. There are a few different ways to outline in Photoshop, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here’s how to make an outline using the method that works best for you.
- Start by creating a new document in Photoshop with a width of 800 pixels and a height of 600 pixels. Name the document “Outline.”
- Select all the text in the document by pressing Ctrl+A (PC) or Command+A (Mac). Then click on the “Select All” button located in the toolbar at the top of Photoshop’s window.
- Click on the “Type” tab located at the top of Photoshop’s window, and then select “Text.” In the “Text Options” dialog box that appears, set the font size to 18 points and click on OK.
- Select all of the text in the document again by pressing Ctrl+A (PC) or Command+A (Mac). Then click on the “Select All” button located in Photoshop’s toolbar again.
- Click on the “Paths” tab located at the top of Photoshop’s window, and then select “Paths.” In the “Paths Options” dialog box that appears, set both width and height to 1 pixel, and click on OK.
- With both width and height set to 1 pixel, drag a straight line from bottom left corner of your screen to top right corner of your screen (see image below). This will create an invisible path called a baseline gridlines (see image below).
