If you’re like most people, you probably use Illustrator to create illustrations and graphics. But if you’re like me, you also use it to make clipping masks. A clipping mask is a tool that lets you cut out pieces of your artwork so that only the parts that you want to see are in view. It’s a great way to keep your work organized and tidy. To make a clipping mask in Illustrator, follow these steps:
- Open Illustrator and click on the File menu (the three lines in the top left corner of the screen). This will take you to the File menu again, this time with a new option called “Clipboard.”
- Click on the “Clipboard” button and then select “New Clipboard.” This will create a new clipboard with all of your current drawings and graphics inside it.
- In the “Name” field, type “clip_mask.” The name should be something unique so that you can easily find it later on.
- In the “Description” field, type something about how this clip mask works (for example, it cuts out all of the pieces of an artwork that are not needed). You can also add some explanatory text if you want.
- Click on the “Create” button and then select " OK."
