If you’re looking to add a little extra pizzazz to your text designs in Photoshop, then you’ll want to check out the new 3D Text feature in CS5. This tutorial will show you how to create 3D text using just a few simple steps. First, open up Photoshop and create a new document. I’m going to use an 8.5"x11" document for this example, but the process is the same no matter what size your document is. Next, select all of your text and go to Edit > Copy (or press CMD+C). Now go to Edit > Paste (or press CMD+V), and paste the copied text into the new document. Now we’re going to start creating our 3D text! First, we’ll need to create a basic outline of our text object. To do this, click on the “Text Tool” icon (it looks like a T with a crosshair over it) and start typing out your text. Once you’ve finished typing out your text, click on the “Object Tool” icon (it looks like an O with a crosshair over it) and drag your cursor over top of the text object that you just created. Once you’ve done this, release your mouse button and Photoshop will automatically create an outline around your text object. Now that we have our basic outline of our 3D text object, we’re going to start adding some details! To do this, first click on the “3D Text Tool” icon again and select the “Textured Edges” option from the dropdown menu that appears. Now simply drag around any areas of your image that you want to have some extra texture added – be sure not to drag too close to any edges or corners though! Once you’ve finished adding texture wherever you want it, simply release your mouse button and Photoshop will automatically apply these changes ..
