If your Pioneer car stereo is not working properly, or if you just want to reset it to its factory settings, follow these steps:
- Turn off the car and unplug the power cord from the car stereo.
- Remove the faceplate of the car stereo.
- On the back of the car stereo, locate and press down on two small black buttons until they release.
- Lift up one end of a white ribbon cable attached to a black connector on one side of the car stereo and pull it out of its socket.
- On the other side of the car stereo, locate and press down on two small black buttons until they release a second time. This will release a metal bracket that holds in place another white ribbon cable attached to a silver connector on one side of the car stereo (see photo).
- Carefully lift up both ends of this white ribbon cable and disconnect it from its silver connector on one side of the car stereo (see photo). Be careful not to lose either end!
- Replace both white ribbon cables by inserting them into their respective sockets on opposite sides of the car stereos (see photo). Make sure that they are inserted correctly - you may need to wiggle them around a bit before they fit snugly into their sockets (see photo). Replace any screws that were removed when removing faceplate in step 2 above (four per side). ..
