There are a few ways to erase part of a shape in Illustrator. The easiest way is to use the eraser tool. To erase a shape, hold down the left mouse button and drag the eraser over the area you want to erase. The eraser will move quickly and will leave a white line across the area you erased. To erase more than one area at once, hold down the left mouse button and drag the eraser over several areas at once.
