When you’re starting out in Illustrator, it’s a good idea to learn how to color a background. This will help you create backgrounds that look professional and look great on your illustrations. To start, open the Backgrounds palette and select a color. You can use any color you like, but we recommend using a light blue or green for backgrounds that will be used in dark or nighttime illustrations. Next, decide how big your background should be. You can make the background as small or as large as you want it to be. We recommend making the background about twice the size of your image’s resolution (in pixels). Now it’s time to add some text! To do this, select the Text tool and click on one of the text fields in the palette. Then type in some text that will help set your illustration apart from others. We recommend using keywords such as “background,” “sky,” or “landscape.”
