If you have a mass air flow sensor (MAF) in your home, you should clean it regularly to keep it working properly. However, if you don’t have a cleaner to do this job, you can use a plunger to clean the sensor.
- Open the MAF by unscrewing the top cover.
- Remove any dust or dirt that has built up on the sensor body and surrounding area.
- Pour some water onto the sensor and place it back into place. Screw the top cover back on and screw in the screws from before.
- Put your house on hold for a few minutes while you get a plunger and some water ready. Place the plunger over the top of the MAF and push and pull until all of the water has been used up (be sure not to damage or remove any of the sensors). Be careful not to damage or remove any of the sensors!
