When you buy a new lamp, be sure to get one with pleats in the shade. These are designed to keep the light from shining through the fabric of the shade and onto your floor. To clean pleats, first remove any dirt or dust that may have built up on them. Then use a vacuum cleaner to suck out all of the dirt and dust. Finally, use a cloth or a dryer to clean off the pleats.
