If you have a hardwood floor, it’s important to clean it after you remove carpet. This will help keep the floor clean and free of dirt, dust, and other debris that can cause problems down the road.

  1. Start by taking off all of your shoes and putting them away in a safe place.
  2. Pour a pot of water onto the floor and wait until it starts to boil. Then add a pot of vinegar to the boiling water and let it cool for a few minutes. Pour this mixture over the area where you plan to remove carpet.
  3. Use a plunger to suction onto the top of the vinegar mixture and push it down into the crevices where dirt, dust, and other debris is hiding. Keep pushing until all of the vinegar has been absorbed into the flooring.
  4. Let everything sit for at least 30 minutes before using again - ideally overnight or even longer if possible!
