Deer hunting season is quickly approaching, and with it comes the inevitable question of how to clean the venison. There are a few different methods, but most involve some type of water and a bit of elbow grease. Here are four tips for cleaning deer:

  1. Start by removing any visible blood or guts. Use a knife or your hands to peel them away until you’re left with clean skin and meat.
  2. Fill a large pot with cold water and add some soap. Bring the water to a boil, then lower it to a simmer and add your deer carcass. Let it cook for about an hour, or until the meat is soft enough to easily remove from the bones.
  3. Remove the meat from the bones by hand or using a kitchen strainer. Discard any excess fat or bones before cooking the meat further or serving it up fresh.
  4. Once all of the meat has been removed, strain the broth into another pot and discard any remaining solids before serving hot over rice or potatoes. ..
