If your Stihl chainsaw is not starting, or is not running smoothly, it may be time to clean the carburetor. This guide will show you how to do it.

  1. Remove the spark plug and air filter.
  2. Remove the screws that hold the carburetor cover in place.
  3. Lift off the carburetor cover.
  4. Clean all of the parts of the carburetor with a solvent such as gasoline or kerosene, using a rag or a brush. Be sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies.
  5. Replace the parts that have been cleaned, and screw on the cover assembly. Reinstall the spark plug and air filter, and replace any screws that were removed in step 2 ..
