When you move into your new home, the last thing you want to worry about is cleaning. But before you can start unpacking, there are a few things you need to take care of first. Here are four tips for cleaning a new construction home:
- Start with the exterior. Clean all of the windows and doorsills with a window cleaner and a scrub brush. Wipe down any areas that may have rain or snow buildup on them.
- Clean the gutters and downspouts. Use a hose to clean them out, then use a broom to sweep any debris off the rooflines and down into the gutters.
- Clean all of the surfaces inside and out. Use a vacuum cleaner with crevice tool attachments to clean under furniture, behind appliances, and in corners and tight spaces. Be sure to use an all-purpose cleaner on any hardwood or laminate floors as well as on any carpets or rugs.
- Wash all of your windowsills, doorjambs, railings, porches, decks, steps, fences—you get the idea! Make sure to use a window cleaner specifically designed for outdoor surfaces and avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage your new home’s finishings over time." ..
