When you move into your new home, the last thing you want to worry about is cleaning. But before you can start unpacking, there are a few things you need to take care of first. Here are four tips for cleaning a new construction home:

  1. Start with the exterior. Clean all of the windows and doorsills with a window cleaner and a scrub brush. Wipe down any areas that may have rain or snow buildup on them.
  2. Clean the gutters and downspouts. Use a hose to clean them out, then use a broom to sweep any debris off the rooflines and down into the gutters.
  3. Clean all of the surfaces inside and out. Use a vacuum cleaner with crevice tool attachments to clean under furniture, behind appliances, and in corners and tight spaces. Be sure to use an all-purpose cleaner on any hardwood or laminate floors as well as on any carpets or rugs.
  4. Wash all of your windowsills, doorjambs, railings, porches, decks, steps, fences—you get the idea! Make sure to use a window cleaner specifically designed for outdoor surfaces and avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage your new home’s finishings over time." ..
