If you have an ignitor in your furnace, it’s important to clean it regularly. Cleaning the ignitor can help prevent a fire and protect your home.

  1. Open the furnace door and remove any obstructions.
  2. Remove the old ignitor by unscrewing it from the wall bracket. Be sure to keep all of the parts safe while you do this.
  3. Place the new ignitor in place and screw it in place using a Phillips head screwdriver.
  4. Close the door to the furnace and turn on the heat to full power. Wait 10 minutes for everything to warm up before starting the furnace again.
  5. Use a vacuum cleaner with suction to suck all of the dirt, dust, and other debris out of the ignitor area. Be sure not to damage any of the components!
