If you’re like most drivers, you probably don’t have a gauge to check your car’s tire pressure. But there are other ways to find out if your tires are underinflated. Here’s how:
- Listen for a hissing sound when you drive over a bump or pothole. If the tires are underinflated, they may not have enough air to cushion the ride, and you’ll hear a loud hiss.
- Feel the tires with your hand. If they’re cold, they may feel harder than usual. Underinflated tires can also feel softer than normal because they don’t have enough air in them to support their weight.
- Look for bubbles in the tire’s surface when you blow it out with your mouth or nose (or use a compressor). Underinflated tires will usually have more bubbles than inflated ones. ..
